Tuesday, May 18: Practice for Student Summit


What Happens During the Student Summit?

Each student will have 1-2 minutes to talk about what you learned during the project
More information and examples can be found on the Student Summit page

Today, You will prepare your talk and your slide


Things you might want to talk about:
  • Your main technology topic - what you learned, what surprised you, what you thought was interesting, etc.
  • Your subtopic (technology + net gen characteristic)
  • Your video - how you got your idea, how you made your video, recognize those who contributed, what you are trying to show/say in your video
  • Your outsource clip - who you made it for, what you learned from the outsourcing process
  • Challenges - what you found most challenging about this project - what you learned by overcoming those challenges
  • Opportunities - what your favorite parts of the the project were, what you're glad you had the opportunity to do, what you learned

How to create your slide:
Choose words and images to accompany your 1-2 minutes of "talk time"

Tech Tips (add yours here):
  • To capture an image from a webpage, right click the image and save
  • To take a screenshot on a school laptop, press function + prt sc (print screen), copy (ctrl+c), open Paint (under Start>Programs>Accessories), paste (ctrl+v), crop my moving image in top left corner and dragging bottom right corner into position, save - you can now insert into your slide!

Monday, May 24: Final Reflection

As your final reflection (final exam), please write two blog posts on the Grown Up Digital Ning in which you address the following questions.
Feel free to organize your blog posts however you wish, but be sure to include a thoughtful, detailed response to each question. Your responses should also be hyperlinked as appropriate. Remember, these responses will be published to the web, so please do your best writing.

NetGenEd Project Reflection


1. How do you see the technology you researched impacting the future of education? How does this technology help meet the needs of Net Generation learners?
(Hint #1: by "technology you researched" we mean: Mobile Computing, Open Content, Electronic Books, Simple Augmented Reality, Gesture-Based Computing, or Visual Data Analysis)
(Hint #2: by "the needs of Net Generation learners" we mean: Choice (Freedom), Customization, Transparency (Scrutiny), Integrity, Collaboration, Fun, Speed, and Innovation)

2. Through the process of engaging in the NetGenEd Project, what did you learn about digital citizenship, and why is what you learned significant?
(Hint #1: by "digital citizenship" we mean communicating and collaborating with others through participation on the world wide web)
(Hint #2: you might be curious to look back at what you wrote at the beginning of the semester in your Digital Citizenship Reflections )

Dear 5th and 6th Periods,
We're sad we're not able to be with you this morning. Please complete the following:

1. Finish your TWO blog posts for your final reflection/final exam. Be sure you have TAGGED them and PUBLISHED them.

2. Make plans to join us for the NetGenEd awards ceremony in Ms. Allen's room before school on Wednesday, June 2nd (time still being determined - will be 6:30, 7:30 or 8:30 am - we will send you a message when we know for sure)
